About⛏️

Raise Your Pick! Give a gift to OLLI that keeps on giving!

Learning and curiosity never get old! This is our motto. We are the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UTEP, fondly known as OLLI. Our mission is to keep a community of people over the age of 50 engaged and active through continuing education, social activities and volunteerism. Our goal is to enhance the enjoyment, meaning and direction of mature lives. OLLI is a group of people still thriving, learning, and caring for those around us. Our members tell us they come for the intellectual stimulation of the courses and activities, and stay for the people. Our OLLI relies on the participation of its community of members and students to support our many moving parts. We would like to reach more people in the border region and can do this with your financial support to sustain and grow our programming.

Resiliency does not age with us. We will continue to move forward with new ideas, feed curiosity in meaningful ways, and keep people connected to keep loneliness at bay. Testimonials tell us that OLLI’s value grows with each new and returning student.

According to Terry Avalos, OLLI member and pickleball player:

“When I joined OLLI, I didn’t know what to expect! I have found what I was looking for—kind, open-minded people who are looking to continue our education while cultivating friendships.”

Long-time OLLI members, Richard and Janet Dand, share:

Over the years, we have (taken) many different classes. Art and music have been our favorites. OLLI is a place to meet new people, share unique experiences and have a lot of fun.”

Davinia Miraval, OLLI instructor, says:

“I have enjoyed OLLI, as a teacher and a student, for several years now. I am always looking forward to my classes so I can learn new things, different points of view, make friends and be social. Teaching for OLLI is always delightful.”

Staying the course in changing and challenging social and technological environments to meet the needs of an older population has been the focus of OLLI’s efforts. Sustaining OLLI’s programming has also meant sustaining a better quality of life for many people.

Your contribution is meaningful to the people who join OLLI. Please donate. If you are over the age of 50 or know someone that can benefit from OLLI’s program, we invite you to be a part of this great program. Come to learn and feed your curiosity. Find new friendships and add a spark of enjoyment to life. We thank you for your support!
