The UTEP College of Nursing is celebrating 50 years of educating nurses who care for our community, and today, its impact on the region’s nursing workforce is unmistakable. More than 90% of new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduates choose to remain in El Paso for their first professional role, strengthening local hospitals, clinics, and community agencies with highly prepared, culturally responsive nurses. In fact, over 60% of all nurses in El Paso are UTEP graduates, meaning that when our friends, families, and neighbors seek care, there is a strong likelihood that a Miner nurse is at their bedside.
Your support of this Raise Your Pick campaign directly fuels this powerful pipeline. Since 1976, the College of Nursing has graduated more than 10,000 nurses, including Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) professionals—advancing clinical leadership and improving patient outcomes across the region. UTEP also plays a critical role in diversifying the nursing profession: 21.4% of UTEP nursing students are male, nearly double the national average of 11%, bringing broader perspectives and lived experiences into patient care. In 2024 alone, 47.8% of all new Registered Nurse (RN) graduates in El Paso came from UTEP, underscoring how essential the College is to meeting the region’s growing healthcare needs.
