Foster Homeless Adopted Resources (FHAR) provides comprehensive academic, basic needs and social services to UTEP students who were adopted, aged-out of foster care, and/or may be experiencing housing insecurity by providing holistic, wraparound support that helps remove barriers to degree completion. We help students meet their basic needs by providing access to essentials such as personal hygiene items, transportation assistance, emergency resources, school supplies, and connections to both campus and community partners. All FHAR supplies are 100% supported through donations and partnerships with UTEP departments and community organizations.
Students access services based on need. Some require ongoing assistance throughout the semester, while others seek short term support during periods of financial or housing instability. In addition, FHAR celebrates our graduating students by providing graduation regalia and graduation gifts made possible through generous donations from departments across campus.
