For over 75 years, KTEP 88.5 FM has been a trusted source for arts, culture, news, and storytelling in the Borderland and a hands-on learning space for UTEP students. Now, we’re facing one of the biggest challenges in our history.
The recently passed Rescissions Act of 2025 eliminated federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, an important source of support for KTEP. Thanks to our Emergency Fund Drive, we've kept NPR programs on the air—for now—but we still need to raise $54,000 to cover the cost of syndicated programs and affiliate fees for programs such as The Splendid Table, SymphonyCast and more.
Your support helps us keep these programs alive and provides UTEP students with invaluable experience in broadcasting. Public radio at KTEP is more than content, it’s education, connection, and service to our region.
If KTEP has ever informed or inspired you, please consider making a gift today.

KTEP is licensed to The University of Texas at El Paso and is operated as a public service to the region. While UTEP provides substantial support to cover the costs of salaries, utilities, and facilities, the University does not provide funding for radio programming as part of the station's yearly budget. KTEP relies on additional funds from donations to help purchase your favorite programs. All gifts made to KTEP are processed and receipted by the University.
