50 Years of Dr. Goodell!
Philip Goodell, Ph.D., a distinguished professor at The University of Texas at El Paso, has dedicated his life to advancing the field of geology. Born and raised in El Paso, Dr. Goodell has been a part of the University community since 1975. He holds an undergraduate degree in solid-state physics from Yale University and a Ph.D. in geology from Harvard University. His expertise lies in economic geology and geochemistry.
Dr. Goodell is responsible for the creation of Celebration of Our Mountains, a local group that leads hikes, nature tours, and studies for the community to learn, appreciate and enjoy the region’s natural environment. It has been said that his field trips are notorious adventures and his occasional disregard for rules has inspired students to realize they can work outside the box and have a rewarding career.
Show Your Support!
In his commitment to fostering innovation in geology, Dr. Goodell has established the Earth Science Discoveries Initiative for UTEP. This initiative aims to promote the development of geologists into successful entrepreneurs, recognizing the potential for significant geological discoveries to be transformed into profitable ventures.
We invite you to contribute to Dr. Philip Goodell’s legacy fund, the Earth Science Discoveries Initiative, by helping us reach our goal of at least 50 unique donors to celebrate Dr. Goodell’s 50 years at UTEP! Funds distributed will aid innovative ideas in earth sciences, including student and faculty research, conferences, workshops, fieldwork or other travel, and any other professional development needs related to innovation.
Say Thanks!
When you make your gift, share a thank you message to Dr. Goodell for all his hard work during his time at UTEP! After you complete your transaction, there will be a section where you will have the opportunity to share your words of gratitude towards him. Once the campaign ends, we will compile all messages into a scrapbook as a gift for Dr. Goodell.
This crowdfunding campaign ends on September 12 at 11:59 p.m. MT. Don’t miss your chance to contribute to this initiative!
